TIA Announces Newly Elected Leaders for Standards Committee TR-14

Arlington, VA (May 2, 2019) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today announced the election of new leadership for its TR-14 Structural Standards for Communication and Small Wind Turbine Support Structures Engineering Committee.

• Bryan Lanier, Director of Customer Engineering at American Tower, will serve as Chair of the Committee. An engineering director with deep experience working in the telecommunications industry, Mr. Lanier previously served as the Secretary of TIA’s TR-14 committee beginning in 2012.
• David Hawkins, President of Paul J Ford & Company, will serve as Vice Chair. A professional engineer, Mr. Hawkins has been a participating member of the TIA TR-14 Committee since 1997. He has served as a chair, task group leader, a member of several subcommittees and task groups of the ANSI/TIA-222-G and ANSI/TIA-222-H standards.
• Christopher Ply, Vice President of Engineered Tower Solutions, PLLC, was appointed secretary of the TR-14 Committee. Ply has a long record as a practicing structural and civil engineer in the telecommunications field and currently leads a team of engineers completing structural and civil projects.

The three newly elected leaders will serve two-year terms.  TIA’s TR-14 Structural Standards for Communication and Small Wind Turbine Support Structures Engineering Committee works to create best practices and update the ANSI/TIA-222 Standard, “Structural Standard for Antenna Supporting Structures, Antennas and Small Wind Turbine Support Structures” and the ANSI/TIA-322 Standard, “Loading, Analysis and Design Criteria Related to the Installation, Alteration and Maintenance of Communication Structures.”  TIA actively seeks participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees.
