TIA Submits Comments Supporting FCC Efforts to Facilitate Passenger In-Flight Broadband Communications

ARLINGTON, VA (May 22, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading trade association for global manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers of information and communications technology (ICT), today submitted comments to the Federal Communications Commission in response to its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on rules to govern the use of Earth Stations Aboard Aircraft.  To receive a copy of TIA’s comments, contact Ashley Rook using the contact information above.

“TIA supports the Commission’s initiatives to make broadband services, including Internet access, available to passengers and flight crews aboard commercial airliners and private aircraft,” said TIA President Grant Seiffert.  “Market research demonstrates that consumers want increased and constant access to data generally, and specifically for in-flight services.  TIA commends the Commission’s activity in this area, including consideration of alternative technological solutions to providing in-flight broadband.”
