TIA Issues Call for Interest on Three New Projects for Cabling Infrastructure and Components Standard

Arlington VA. (October 14, 2016) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) , the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks that develops voluntary standards for the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, today announced  a call for interest for document, ANSI/TIA-568.0-D-1, initially titled Generic Telecommunications Cabling for Customer Premises, Addendum 1: Updated References, Accommodation of New Media Types, ANSI/TIA-568.1-D-1, initially titled Commercial Building Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard, Addendum 1:  Updated References, Accommodation of New Media Types and ANSI/TIA-568.4-D, initially titled Broadband Coaxial Cabling and Components Standard.

TIA’s Engineering Subcommittee TR-42.1 for Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling is developing guidelines that update references and accommodate new media types introduced by the ANSI/TIA-568-C.2-1 and ANSI/TIA-568.3-D specifications.  TR 42.7 for Copper Cabling Systems is developing guidelines to  supersede and replace the ANSI/TIA-568-C.4 standard which specifies requirements and recommendations for 75 Ω broadband coaxial cabling, cables, cords, and connecting hardware to support Community Antenna Television (CATV), satellite television, and other applications supported and defined by the ANSI/TIA-568-C.0-D standard. Also, included are transmission and mechanical requirements, as well as requirements related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for cabling, cables and connectors.

Key stakeholders for these specifications include designers, installers, building owners, building tenants, users, and test equipment producers of coaxial cabling.

TIA’s standards activities are carried out by voluntary members of TIA’s Engineering Committees and actively seeks participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
