Telecommunications Industry Association Issues Call for Interest: "FOTP-122 Polarization Mode Dispersion Measurement for Single Mode Optical Fibers by Stokes Parameter Evaluation"
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation

Arlington Va. – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.12 Engineering Committee on Optical Fibers and Cables has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-122-A initially titled "FOTP-122 Polarization Mode Dispersion Measurement for Single Mode Optical Fibers by Stokes Parameter Evaluation".

TR-42.12 has developed guidelines in the area defined by the following scope: "This test method describes a procedure for measuring the polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) of single-mode optical fibers. The measurement result is obtained from a single series of Stokes parameter measurements performed at intervals across a wavelength range. It can be applied to both short and long fibers, regardless of the degree of polarization mode coupling."

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Telecom, Optical Fiber Manufacturers, Developers and Users

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

To inquire about participating in TIA standards developing efforts, please contact the TIA Technology & Standards Department at 703-907-7000 or via e-mail at standards@tiaonline.org.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages (http://www.tiaonline.org/standards/committees/ ), users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee.
