TIA Issues Call for Interest on new Project for Supplement A to J-STD-110, Joint ATIS/TIA Native SMS to 9 1 1 Requirements and Architecture Specification

Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.

Arlington VA. (September 24, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-45.8 Engineering Committee on Core Networks - Mobile and Personal Communications Standards has issued a call for interest for document J-STD-110.a initially titled "Supplement A to J-STD-110, Joint ATIS/TIA Native SMS to 9 1 1 Requirements and Architecture Specification".

TR-45.8 along with the ATIS WTSC committee is developing an addenda to the recently published J-STD-110.  Since that publication in March 0f 2013 a number of implementation issues have arisen, such as temporary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) suspension, Text Control Center (TCC) toTCC interconnection, and TCC-HTTP interworking function (IWF) interactions which the industry is addressing in this new project.  The resulting document will include additional references, use cases and call flows as well as enhancements to the architecture in support of SMS to 9-1-1.

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: wireless service providers and equipment vendors, the public safety community.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

For more information about TR-45 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Stephanie Montgomery at standards@tiaonline.org.

A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee.
