TIA Issues Call for Interest on new Project for Requirements for Mission Critical PTT and Related Supplementary Services

Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.

Arlington VA. (September 11, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-8.8 Engineering Committee on Broadband Data Systems has issued a call for interest for document TIA-4973.201 initially titled "Requirements for Mission Critical PTT and Related Supplementary Services".  This specification identifies requirements for Mission Critical Push-to-Talk (MC-PTT) services intended to operate over broadband networks, including, particularly, the National Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN) envisioned by Public Law 112-96. It comprises a portion of the requirements of the TIA-4973 suite of standards. Specifically, it identifies requirements for Mission Critical (MC) Push-to-Talk (PTT) services over Broadband Networks in the context of TSB 4973.000.

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Public safety organizations, manufacturers and users of push-to-talk services in the first responder industry.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
