TIA Issues Call for Interest on new Project for Polarization Crosstalk Method for Polarization-Maintaining Optical Fiber and Component
Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.
Arlington VA. (June 13, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.12 Engineering Committee on Optical Fibers and Cables has issued a call for interest for document TIA-455-193 initially titled "Polarization Crosstalk Method for Polarization-Maintaining Optical Fiber and Component".
This TR-42.12 standardization project specifies a method of measuring the polarization crosstalk of single mode, highly linearly-birefringent (commonly called polarization-maintaining or PM) optical fiber and components. It is applicable to fibers and components having connectors attached to one or both ends, and to two or more such entities joined in series. The standardization project may also have application to other devices constructed from polarization-maintaining fibers and/or components.
The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Telecommunications companies, Optical Fiber Manufacturers, Developers and Users.
TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
To inquire about participating in TIA standards developing efforts, please contact the TIA Technology & Standards Department at 703-907-7700 or via e-mail at standards@tiaonline.org.
A major function of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees. On the public engineering committee pages, users will find recent meeting reports, agendas and notices for upcoming meetings, as well as links to some of the most popular standards from each committee. TIA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Visit tiaonline.org.
