New Revisions to TDMA Third Generation Wireless Standards

Stakeholders Invited to Contact TIA Regarding Participation.

Arlington VA. (April 18, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-45.3 Engineering Committee on Time Division Digital Technology - Mobile and Personal Communications Standards has issued a call for interest for the development of the Revision I to the TIA/EIA-136 series of standards addressing 3G wireless for TDMA technology.  This latest revision in the series incorporates support for 3GPP GERAN Release 9 and also support for Overload class 12 as addressed in TSB-16-B, Assignment of Access Overload Classes in the Cellular Telecommunications Services. 

The TIA/EIA-136 parts included in this revision are:

TIA/EIA-136-000-I initially titled "TDMA Third Generation Wireless List of Parts’

TIA/EIA-136-123-I initially titled "TDMA Third Generation Wireless Digital Control Channel Layer 3"

TIA/EIA-136-140-C initially titled “TDMA Third Generation Wireless - Analog Control Channel”

TIA/EIA-136-150-C initially titled “TDMA Third Generation Wireless - Analog Voice Channel”

TIA/EIA-136-370-E initially titled "TDMA Third Generation Wireless Enhanced General Packet-Data Service (EGPRS-136)"

TIA/EIA-136-376-E initially titled "TDMA Third Generation Wireless Enhanced General Packet-Data Service (EGPRS-136) Mobility Management (MM)"

TIA/EIA-136-377-E initially titled "TDMA Third Generation Wireless EGPRS-136 Gs Interface Specifications"

TIA/EIA-136-440-E initially titled "TDMA Third Generation Wireless Adaptive Multi Rate (AMR) Codec"

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: carriers, equipment providers.

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.
