TIA Applauds the Senate Commerce Committee for Improvements to the Equal Access to 21st Century Communications Act

Washington, D.C. – Following this morning's action by the Senate Commerce Committee which reported favorably S. 3304, the Equal Access to 21st Century Communications Act, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) released the following statement:

"TIA applauds the commitment of Sens. Pryor and Kerry, the bill's chief sponsors, to work to address the concerns of industry throughout the drafting and committee consideration of this legislation. Under their leadership, and with the Committee's input today, the bill has significantly improved. TIA also appreciates the commitment of Chairman Rockefeller and Full Committee Ranking Member Hutchison and Communications Subcommittee Ranking Member Ensign to ensure that this bill meets the dual goals of ensuring the continued availability of accessible technology without hampering the technological innovation that is the hallmark of America's information and communications technology (ICT) industry. The Committee this morning accepted a number of amendments that have significantly improved this legislation and we remain committed to working with members throughout the remainder of the process."
