Arlington, Va. – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leader in advocacy, standards development, business development and intelligence for the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, has hired Sandra Afes as Vice President of Finance.
Ms. Afes has 30 years of experience leading associations in the financial arena.
"We're fortunate at TIA that Sandy – who has such depth of experience in non-profit finance – agreed to come on board," said TIA President Grant Seiffert. "She will help strengthen TIA as we face the economic challenges that currently confront all non-profit associations and businesses alike."
Most recently, Ms. Afes was the Chief Financial Officer for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Before that she was the Chief Financial Officer for the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA), a not-for-profit association in Arlington, Virginia.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Afes was an auditor for Arthur Andersen in Boston. She worked there for seven years gaining invaluable audit experience.
Ms. Afes has an MBA from New York University, where she also earned a JD. She holds a CPA license.
