TIA Updates Over the Air Interoperability Specification for cdma2000® Air Interface

TIA-1043-A Provides Tests to Demonstrate the Interoperability of Mobile Stations/Access Terminals and Base Stations/Access Networks Compliant with cdma2000 Standards

Arlington, Va. – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leader in advocacy, standards development, business development and intelligence for the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, recently released TIA-1043-A Issues Over the Air Interoperability Specification for cdma2000® Air Interface.

TIA-1043-A is the first revision of the document, which defines air interface interoperability tests for CDMA mobile stations/access terminals and base stations/access networks. The document defines test cases for cdma2000 1x base stations and mobile stations with protocol revision equal to or less than seven and/or revision A of TIA-856-A cdma2000 High Rate Packet Data Air Interface Specification.

In TIA-1043-A, "mobile station" or "access terminal" refers to a subscriber terminal, handset, PDA, wireless local loop unit, or any other CDMA subscriber terminal that communicates with the base station at the air interface. "Base station" or "access network" refers to the composite functionality of the base station and connected network elements. These tests are performed over-the-air in a live network environment.

The objective of this specification is to provide tests to demonstrate the interoperability of mobile stations/access terminals and base stations/access networks compliant with the cdma2000 family of standards.

TIA-1043-A was formulated under the cognizance of TIA Engineering Committee TR-45 Mobile & Personal Communications Systems, TR-45.5 Subcommittee on Spread Spectrum Digital Technology.
