FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 28, 2008
Arlington, Va. - The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leader in advocacy, standards development, business development and intelligence for the information and communications technology (ICT) industries, has published TIA-942-1: Data Center Coaxial Cabling Specifications and Application Distances. This is an addendum to TIA-942: Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers.
The new addendum, TIA-942-1, specifies testing, as well as additional requirements, for connectors used for 75-ohm coaxial cabling in data centers. It also allows for longer horizontal cabling originating from the main distribution area (MDA) for coaxial cabling, and amends E1, T1, E3, and T3 maximum circuit distances, specified in Annex A of TIA-942, to permit longer distances.
This addendum was prepared by the TR-42.1 subcommittee and approved by TR-42.1, the TR-42 Engineering Committee and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
