TIA PUBLISHES NEW STANDARD TIA-864-A-1

Arlington, Va. - The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has published a new standard, TIA-864-A-1, Recommended Minimum Performance Standards for cdma2000® High Rate Packet Data Access Network.

This standard details definitions, methods of measurement and minimum performance requirements for access networks. The intent of this standard is to ensure that an access terminal can obtain service in any systems that meet the compatibility requirements of TIA-856-A-3, cdma2000® High Rate Packet Data Air Interface Specification. Compatibility, as used in connection with this standard, is understood to mean that any access terminal is able to open data connections in any HRPD system. Conversely, all HRPD systems are able to open connections with any access terminal. Test methods are recommended in this document; however, methods other than those recommended may suffice for the same purpose.

TIA-864-A-1 was formulated under the cognizance of TR-45 Mobile and Personal Communications Systems, TR-45.5 Subcommittee on Spread Spectrum Digital Technology. To obtain copies of the document, contact Information Handling Services at (800) 854-7179 or visit http://global.ihs.com.
