TIA ANNOUNCES CALL FOR INTEREST ON REVISION OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS BONDING AND GROUNDING STANDARD

Arlington, Va. - The Telecommunications Industry (TIA) TR-42.3 Subcommittee on commercial building telecommunications pathways and spaces is developing a revision to J-STD-607-A, Commercial Building Grounding (Earthing) and Bonding Requirements For Telecommunications.

The revision could add requirements that are not covered in the existing standard and would reflect technological changes since the standard was published. Areas under consideration include, but are not limited to: application information, antenna grounding; data center grounding; industrial grounding; verification and testing; impact of multiple power service entrances; tall buildings; campus grounding; grounding for access and service providers; supplemental grounding including rods, grids, coupled conductors; bonding conductor sizing; and optional grounding topologies.

TR-42 invites interested parties, including users, designers and integrators, to contribute to this proposed project development. Other individuals and representatives who may wish to contribute to this revision include those affiliated with the TIA TR-41.7 and TR-42.9 committees, as well as the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA); the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA); BICSI, the organization that serves and supports telephone company building industry consultants responsible for the design and distribution of telecommunications wiring in commercial and multi-family buildings; the ATIS Network Interface, Power, and Protection Committee (NIPP); and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., (IEEE).
