Arlington, Va. -- The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has published a new standard, "LAES for cdma2000® VoIP," TIA-1066.

The purpose of this document is to facilitate a service provider's assistance to law enforcement. TIA-1066 defines a method to support electronic surveillance for cdma2000® voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) based on multi-media domain. It addresses the interfaces between a service provider and a law enforcement agency (LEA) to assist the LEA in conducting lawfully-authorized electronic surveillance for cdma2000® VoIP. Compliance with this standard is intended to provide service providers with a safe harbor as permitted under Section 107(a) of the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) statute.

TIA-1066 was created by TIA TR-45.6 Subcommittee on Wireless Intersystem Technology and released July 2006. To obtain copies of the document, contact Global Engineering Documents at (800) 854- 7179 or visit http://global.ihs.com.

cdma2000® is a registered trademark and certification mark of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA- USA).
