AdvaMed Joins TIA in Promoting EIATRACK to Global Medical Technology Companies

TIA's EIATRACK Provides Environmental Compliance Information and Worldwide Environmental Regulatory Tracking for the Medical Technology Industry

Arlington, Va. – What's not slowing down with the global economy? The increasingly urgent demand for environmental product stewardship as dictated by legislative and regulatory action in jurisdictions around the world. Laws and policies are continuously being written and updated, presenting a massive challenge for manufacturers to keep pace.

"EIATRACK has been designed with user input and will give medical technology manufacturers a tool to cost-effectively manage their compliance with environmental regulations globally," said Grant Seiffert, President of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). "We welcome the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed's) support in sharing with its members the important benefits that EIATRACK provides."

The medical technology sector is highly regulated for patient health and safety. The cost for companies to individually track additional compliance regulations, such as environmental regulations, is astronomical. Fortunately, a group of like-minded manufacturers with a shared commitment to learn from the experiences of the electronic industry and find synergies and cost savings in joining together, have now joined EIATRACK.

"EIATRACK provides AdvaMed's more than 1,600 member companies with the tools and information necessary to comply with environmental standards across multiple international markets," said Steve Ubl, president and CEO, AdvaMed. "We are pleased with the opportunity to partner with TIA to provide this new resource that will help our members with environmental regulations not only in international markets, but also keep track of environmental regulatory challenges in the United States."

"Alcon has found its subscription to EIATRACK to be extremely useful in keeping apprised of environmental regulatory developments in key markets," said David Krapf, Vice President, Global Medical Device Regulatory Affairs for Alcon and Chairman of AdvaMed's European Regulatory Working Group. "We believe this AdvaMed partnership with TIA will be a valuable tool for the medical technology industry."

Owned by TIA, EIATRACK is a subscription-based web service that delivers information on product-oriented environmental compliance for the electronics sector in more than 100 global jurisdictions, including every state in the United States.

TIA recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AdvaMed that allows it to offer AdvaMed members a steep discount on EIATRACK subscriptions.

The EIATRACK team is made up of legal and technical partners that cut across the disciplines of law, environmental policy and science. Compliance issues are tracked through subject updates and reports across jurisdictions.
