TIA TR-14 Committee on Tower Structural Standards for Communications Elects New Leadership and Announces a Revision Project
Arlington, VA (November 7, 2012) - The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today announced the election of a new chair and vice-chair to lead its engineering committee, TR-14, Structural Standards for Communication and Small Wind Turbine Support Structures.
TIA congratulates John Erichsen, Principal Structural Engineer with EET, LLC, on his election as a Chair of TR-14. Mr. Erichsen has been with the TR-14.7 Committee since 1987 and has served as Vice-Chair since 2007. His focus will be to lead the TR-14 Committee through a new revision project and the publication of two design supplements to ANSI/TIA-222-G, Structural Standard for Antenna Supporting Structures and Antennas.
After actively participating on the committee since 1987, Mark Malouf, President of Malouf Engineering International, has been elected as Vice-Chair of TR-14. Mr. Malouf will also serve as a chairman of two newly-created Task Groups (TG) for Design Supplements: ANSI/TIA-222-G-3 Pole Base Plates and ANSI/TIA-222-G-4 Small Wind Turbine Support Structures. These Task Groups will oversee comments on design supplements from the TR-14 Committee and the wind energy industry prior to balloting.
TIA recognizes and thanks Brian Reese, Vice-President Northeast Region, ReliaPOLE Inspection Services Company, for his outstanding leadership of the TR-14 Committee over the past decade. Mr. Reese has led the TR-14.7 Committee for 11 years and has been a major contributor to the revisions of the ANSI/TIA-222 as well as ANSI/TIA-1019, Structural Standards for Antenna Supporting Structures and Antennas and for Steel Gin Poles Used for Installation of Antenna Towers and Antenna Supporting Structures.
“On behalf of TIA, I want to express our deep gratitude to TR-14's outgoing and new leaders," said Cheryl Blum, Vice President of Technology and Standards at TIA. "This is an energized group addressing the needs for important standards that will have a positive impact on ICT industry for Antenna Supporting Structures and Antennas.”

Last week was a busy one at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. The signs are very encouraging that the member countries of the WTO are back on track to move the WTO’s trade liberalization agenda forward – from the new International Services Agreement (ISA) to the ongoing negotiations to expand the existing WTO Information Technology Agreement (ITA).
