TIA Submits Comments to FCC Regarding Open Internet Rules

Arlington, VA. (March 22, 2014) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today filed comments with the FCC regarding the D.C. Circuit Court’s decision in Verizon v. FCC  to vacate the Open Internet rules, and what actions the FCC should take in light of the court’s decision.

TIA commented that any re-adoption of the vacated Open Internet rules must, at the very least, not constrain Internet Service Providers from exercising broad and flexible network management capabilities.  The comments note that, “The open Internet is, and always has been, a managed Internet.  It relies on a highly intelligent network core, and management occurs across the network on an ongoing basis.”

The FCC has established a new docket in which to consider the D.C. Circuit’s Open Internet decision and what actions the Commission should take, consistent with its authority under section 706  and all other available sources of Commission authority, in light of the court’s decision.
