TIA issues New Data Service Options for Spread Spectrum Systems, Addendum 3 - cdma2000® High Speed Packet Data Service Option 33 Standard

Arlington, VA (April 03, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association, which develops standards for the information and communications technology industry, has released a new document, TIA-707-A-4 [E] Data Service Options for Spread Spectrum Systems, Addendum 3 - cdma2000® High Speed Packet Data Service Option 33

TIA-707-A-4 [E]  specifies procedures for Radio Link Protocol Type 3. Radio Link Protocol Type 3 (RLP) is used with a cdma2000® Traffic Channel to support CDMA data services. This document contains addendum to TIA/IS-707-A chapter 10. RLP provides an octet stream transport service over forward and reverse traffic channels. RLP is unaware of higher layer framing; it operates on a featureless octet stream, delivering the octets in the order received. RLP has procedures to substantially reduce the error rate exhibited by CDMA traffic channels. There is no direct relationship between higher layer packets and the underlying traffic channel frames; a large packet may span multiple traffic channel frames, or a single traffic channel frame may contain all or part of several small higher layer packets.

TIA-707-A-4 [E] was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-45 Mobile and Personal Communications Systems Standards, TR-45.5 Spread Spectrum Digital Technology -- Mobile and Personal Communications Standards
