TIA Files Ex Parte Letter with FCC on Progeny LMS Waiver Request
ARLINGTON, VA (July 9, 2012) - On Friday, July 6, 2012, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) filed an ex parte letter with the Federal Communications Commission regarding a waiver request by Progeny LMS, LLC on devices that operate in the 902-928 MHz band on an unlicensed basis. TIA cautioned the Commission to take further measures to ensure that unlicensed operations in the M-LMS Band are protected from harmful interference from the other services. TIA said any allowance by the Commission of Progeny’s M-LMS system should be conditioned on further testing to safeguard Part 15 stakeholders from this harmful interference.

We hope that China will use this break in the negotiations to reexamine its approach to the negotiations to expand the ITA and focus on reducing its overly large list of sensitive products. If China is ready to move forward to conclude the expansion of the ITA this year then the ITA Expansion is achievable this year.

The signs are very encouraging that the member countries of the WTO are back on track to move the WTO’s trade liberalization agenda forward – from the new International Services Agreement (ISA) to the ongoing negotiations to expand the existing WTO Information Technology Agreement (ITA).
