TIA Files Comments with FCC on Commercial Operations in the 3.5 GHz Band

ARLINGTON, VA (April 5, 2013) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today submitted reply comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) and Order on commercial operations in the 3.5 GHz band.

In its comments, TIA said that the FCC should permit long term evolution of the 3.5 GHz band and not depend solely on current technology assumptions, especially assumption about future technology or regarding potential unlicensed use.  The Association said that the Commission should consider "Shared Access" alternatives, such as "Licensed Shared Access" or "Authorized Shared Access," and should not act prematurely in a manner that would foreclose their eventual adoption.
