TIA Applauds Re-Introduction of the MOBILE NOW Act
Arlington, VA (January 3, 2017) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today applauded Sen. John Thune (R-SD) for the re-introduction of the MOBILE NOW Act. This important legislation will be critical to building 5G networks and make more spectrum available for commercial wireless broadband use.
TIA’s Senior Vice President for Government Affairs James Reid issued the following statement:
“More spectrum and an enhanced wireless infrastructure are both essential to ensuring that the United States maintains its global lead in technology and innovation, and maximizes the transformative potential of the Internet of Things. The MOBILE NOW Act will help address the growing demand for connectivity, and more spectrum solutions will also be needed — particularly to keep the U.S. competitive as nations around the world push forward with plans for next-generation wireless.
“TIA thanks Sen. Thune for his commitment to expand investment in our broadband infrastructure to address consumers growing demand, and we encourage Congress to make this legislation a priority in the months ahead.”
