TIA Applauds FCC’s Vote to Roll-Back Burdensome Net Neutrality Regulations
Arlington, VA (May 18, 2017) – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today applauded the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)’s vote to accept Chairman Ajit Pai’s Restoring Internet Freedom proposal to revise rules adopted in 2015 that regulate Internet Service Providers.
Cinnamon Rogers, TIA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, commented:
“The FCC’s vote today is a step in the right direction for restoring sensible rules to govern the internet. TIA’s member companies fully support Chairman Pai’s proposal that will achieve an open internet and allow industry to further invest in the network and meet the growing demand from consumers for new high-tech products and services enabled by the Internet of Things and an increasingly connected society.
The FCC’s longstanding approach to a light touch regulatory framework allows providers to deliver more access, higher speeds and greater connectivity to consumers. A free and open internet that protects consumers is essential – and is best delivered through balanced and broadly supported rules that encourage investment, competition and innovation.”
