TIA Announces Elected Leaders for Telecommunications Cabling Systems Subcommittee on Sustainable Information Communications Technology

Arlington, VA (October 2, 2012)  - The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leading association representing the manufacturers and suppliers of high-tech communications networks, today announced the election of chair, vice-chair and secretary to lead its engineering subcommittee TR-42.10, Sustainable Information Communications Technology.  The TR 42.10 Subcommittee develops and maintains voluntary standards, guidelines and recommendations for sustainable information communications technology.

TIA congratulates Julie Roy, Technical Manager with CommScope Network Solutions, on her election as a Chair of TR-42.10; Glenn Sexton, President at Northwest Information Services on his election as a Vice-Chair and Ray Emplit, Technical and Standards Representative at OBO Betterman as a Secretary. Subcommittee TR-42.10 focuses on standardizing the Sustainable Technology Environment Program rating system from the STEP Foundation; on evaluation of current published standards under TR-42 and on identification of opportunities to maximize cabling infrastructure in relation to the STEP rating Standard.

During the week of October 1, 2012, TIA engineering committee TR-42, Telecommunications Cabling Systems, met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to continue their work developing cabling infrastructure in user-owned buildings including data centers, healthcare facilities and office buildings. TR-42 addresses generic cabling topologies, design, distances and outlets configurations as well as specifics for these locations.
