Arlington, Va. – The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) announced today that Alcatel-Lucent, host sponsor for TIA 2012: Inside the Network, has been joined by Cisco, Ericsson, GENBAND, ILS Technology, Panasonic, and Walker and Associates as sponsors of TIA’s annual membership and industry event.
TIA 2012, which is focused on innovating solutions to keep pace with soaring data demands straining the global communications network, is being held June 5-7, 2012 in Dallas, Texas.

Education Track topics include: Optimizing the Cloud, Green ICT, Network Convergence, M2M and Embedded Mobile, Mobile Backhaul, MultiScreen Video, Optical - Roadmap to 100G, Video Communications & Collaboration, and a variety of specialty topics.
Limited Speaking Opportunities still exist. TIA 2012 conference tracks/topics, guidelines, evaluation criteria, and other important facts regarding speaking opportunities can be viewed at tia2012.org. Speaker proposals should be submitted as soon as possible. The deadline for applications is November 15, 2011.
The Conference at TIA 2011 received enthusiastic evaluations. Videos of educational tracks and keynotes are available for viewing at tianow.org.

We hope that China will use this break in the negotiations to reexamine its approach to the negotiations to expand the ITA and focus on reducing its overly large list of sensitive products. If China is ready to move forward to conclude the expansion of the ITA this year then the ITA Expansion is achievable this year.

The ITA remains one of the most commercially important WTO trade agreements – by eliminating tariffs on a broad range of ICT products, the ITA lowers the cost and improves access to these products, which are vital to the economic competitiveness of all economies around the world.

This coalition of high-tech companies represents a broad spectrum of manufacturers and service providers in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.

Last week was a busy one at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. The signs are very encouraging that the member countries of the WTO are back on track to move the WTO’s trade liberalization agenda forward – from the new International Services Agreement (ISA) to the ongoing negotiations to expand the existing WTO Information Technology Agreement (ITA).
