International Standards Activities
TIA is a major standards development organization (SDO), producing technical standards for all parts of the communications industry. Many of these standards are used around the world. In all, TIA sponsors more than 70 standards-setting groups.
Call to Action
TIA's Technical Advisory work is setting technology trends in several industry areas, including:
TIA collaborates regularly with other SDOs and standards entities, both in the United States and abroad. These include:
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology of the U.S. Department of Commerce
- The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
- International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
- ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee- (JTC) 1, Information Technology
- The International Telecommunication Union
- CITEL
- Internet Engineering Task Force
- European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI)
- and ISO/IEC at the Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) and RAdio STandardization (RAST) meetings.
- The member associations of the Third-Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2), for which TIA serves as secretariat, and other SDOs from around the world working together to create global standards for 3G wireless networks.
