Government Affairs

Events

TIA brings members together to enhance their business opportunities and to learn from one another. Moreover, we depend upon our members' involvement to shape TIA's policy framework.

APCO Director Rice

APCO Executive Director George S. Rice, Jr. speaks at a TIA government affairs meeting.

To that end, TIA holds a number of receptions, meet-and-greets, luncheons, and roundtables to provide members the opportunity to network and learn about the latest trends in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry. We also convene a wide range of public policy working groups that chart the positions TIA will take with the FCC and other government entitites.

Policy Committees and Working Groups

Through working groups and committees, TIA members are kept abreast of current policy issues affecting the ICT industry and meet regularly to shape TIA's response to these issues. Members are welcome to join as many groups as are of interest to them.

Broadband and Technology Luncheons

Held regularly in Washington, D.C., TIA’s B&T Luncheons provide members an invaluable opportunity to informally discuss substantive policy matters with lawmakers and regulators inside the beltway. The 2008 B&T Luncheon featured an address by FCC Wireline Bureau Chief Dana Schaffer, who talked about the pressing telecom policy issues before the agency.

Spring Policy Summit

Held in Cambridge, Maryland, each spring (with the exception of 2008), the policy summit attracts ICT industry leaders, Capitol Hill staffers, and TIA member company representatives for a two-day event that examines the ways in which government and industry can work together to embrace investment and innovation in emerging products and services.  The close proximity to Washington, D.C. allows for facilitated travel in an intimate and informal setting.
