FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 8, 2008
Arlington, Va. - The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), the leader in advocacy, standards development, business development and intelligence for the information and communications technology (ICT) industries, has published TIA-1132, Minimum Performance Specification for Terrestrial Mobile Multimedia Multicast Forward Link Only Repeaters.
TIA-1132 specifies minimum performance requirements to expand interoperability of new and emerging forward link only repeaters technology and networks that optimize multicast broadcast of advanced multimedia content to mobile devices. With open standards for mobile broadcast environments, service providers can more efficiently and cost effectively provide streaming and on-demand audio, video and IP-data content, such as CNN, ESPN, NPR, stock quotes and sports scores, to large numbers of mobile users, at the same time.
The standard TIA-1132 was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-47.1: Subcommittee on Terrestrial Mobile Multimedia Multicast Based on Forward Link Only Technology. To obtain copies of the document, contact IHS International at 800.854.7179 or visit http://global.ihs.com.
